Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission

Charlotte Magazine recently discussed The Brooklyn Collective’s initiative to renovate what is left of Brooklyn, “a historic black community razed and redeveloped in a series of urban renewal projects in the 1960s and ’70s.” Designated landmarks Grace AME Zion Church and Mecklenburg Investment Company Building still stand and the article explores efforts to restore the buildings “as it honors the property’s, and Brooklyn’s, history.”

From Email Received May 11:

Hi Elizabeth, I’m not sure if I can do this now but I wanted to submit these images of 4 structures that are on the Blakeney Heath Road property. I will have questions about them this evening.

Thanks,

Eduardo Palacio
