Charlotte City Council has unanimously approved Oaklawn Park’s petition to become a locally designated historic district. This makes the neighborhood “the first historic district designated in Charlotte in a decade,” as reported by The Charlotte Observer. The article below explains how this designation will help preserve the historic character of Oaklawn Park, but how work must continue to ensure the affordability of the neighborhood.
