Historic properties face many threats as years pass. One increasing threat for historic properties located near waterways is the rise of sea levels. Fred Lawing, owner of the Golden Green Hotel located at 3024 E. Independence Boulevard in Charlotte, N.C., recently discussed his efforts to maintain the historically significant property with Q City Metro. As part of the continuing celebration of the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment, giving some women the right to vote, Smithsonian Magazine recently ran a feature on Susan Pringle Frost, who was instrumental in preserving many of Charleston’s historic buildings.
