HLC Staff recently visited the McConnell House, located at 4009 Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte, N.C. Staff is pleased with the condition of the house. The owner is working closely with the HLC to develop a preservation solution.

The Torrence Lytle School, located at 302 Holbrooks Road, Huntersville, N.C., is under contract for sale. Listed in the National Register, the buildings will be turned into apartments. Due diligence has to occur, but HLC Staff is very optimistic that these buildings, that were the high school for African Americans in North Mecklenburg from the 1930s to the 1960s, will be preserved.

The Historic Landmarks Commission is obtaining an appraisal on the property, located at 921 Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte, N.C. The Commission is also getting estimates on what it will cost to restore the building and will then open negotiations with the owner.
