HLC Public Hearings (Virtual Meeting)

Public Hearing for the Stough-Cornelius/Potts Barber Shop Building

The public will take notice that the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission will hold a virtual public hearing at 6:00 p.m. on the 13th day of September, 2021, on the following question:

The potential historic landmark designation of the Stough-Cornelius/Potts Barber Shop Building (including the exterior of the building and the approximately 0.087 acres of land listed under Tax Parcel Number 00521214 in the Mecklenburg County Tax Office). Said property is owned by Gerald M. Potts and is located at 21324 and 21328 Catawba Avenue, Cornelius, NC. 

The hearing will allow the public to comment on the foregoing potential matter. Such designation would be pursuant to Chapter 160D, Article 9, as amended, of the General Statutes of North Carolina.

Public Hearings for Properties in Charlotte

The public will take notice that the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission will hold virtual public hearings at 6:00 p.m. on the 13th day of September, 2021, on the question of designating as a historic landmark the following properties: the property known as the “Stafford-Holcombe Farm,” the property known as the “Brooklyn McCrorey Branch YMCA,” and the property known as the “Kimberlee Apartments.” For instructions on attending the virtual public hearings visit the Commission’s website at landmarkscommission.org or contact the Commission at 980-314-7660.

The hearings will allow the public to comment on the potential historic landmark designation of the following:

“Stafford-Holcombe Farm” (listed under Parcel Identification Number 10521107 and including the interior and exterior of the main house, the interior and exterior of the log slave quarter-tenant house, and the land listed under Parcel Identification Number 10521107 in the Mecklenburg County Tax Office, Charlotte, North Carolina as of June 1, 2021). Said property is owned by Leslie Mursch Freeman, and is located at Plaza Road Extension in Charlotte, North Carolina. 

“Brooklyn McCrorey Branch YMCA” (listed under Parcel Identification Number(s) 12506401 and including the exterior of the building and the footprint of the building within Parcel Identification Number(s) 12506401 in the Mecklenburg County Tax Office, Charlotte, North Carolina as of June 1, 2021, but excluding the remainder of the land comprising Parcel Identification Number(s) 12506401). Said property is owned by SLT-Brevard, LLC, and is located at 334 South Caldwell Street (also identified as 416 East 3rd Street) in Charlotte, North Carolina. 

“Kimberlee Apartments” (listed under Parcel Identification Number 17518102 and including the common areas within the interior of the building, the exterior of the building, the building’s landscape and hardscape elements and associated auxiliary structures, including without limitation the elevated walkway, and the land listed under Parcel Identification Number 17518102 in the Mecklenburg County Tax Office, Charlotte, North Carolina as of June 1, 2021, but excluding the interior of the building’s individual residential units). Said property is owned by The Kimberlee, Incorporated, and is located at 1300 Reece Road in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Such designations would be pursuant to Chapter 160D, Article 9, as amended, of the General Statutes of North Carolina.
