3.  Update on Projects

a.  Torrence Lytle School, 302 Holbrooks Road, Huntersville, N.C.

The COA application for the demolition of the two wing buildings is in process. Peter Wasmer is gathering information about the cost of demolishing the wing buildings and determining if the demolition of the wing buildings will in any way potentially damage the original building.  Information should be available for the meeting.

b.  Ingleside, 7225 Bud Henderson Road, Huntersville, N.C.

The roof repair is in process and the prospective buyers continue to perform due diligence. Staff anticipates that an offer on the property will be forthcoming. 

c.  Dowd House and Former Fire Station No. 10, 2216 Monument Street and 2136 Remount Road, Charlotte, N.C.

Discussions with Mecklenburg County regarding the future of the property continue.

d.  Wallace House, 9425 Robinson Church Road, Charlotte, N.C.

Sandy Carnegie and Peter Wasmer continue to work on securing proposals for the environmental clean up of the property.

e.  Edgewood Farm, 11132 Eastfield Road, Charlotte, N.C.

Staff is meeting with the owner of Edgewood Farm to discuss the status of selling the property.

f.  Excelsior Club, 921 Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte, N.C.

The owner of the Excelsior Club has yet to sign the memorandum agreement. Discussions of future preservation strategies continue.  Efforts will be made to secure an option to purchase, and Preservation North Carolina has agreed to hold the option.

g.  Victor Shaw House, 2400 Mecklenburg Avenue, Charlotte, N.C.

Eric Gamble and Edwin Wilson have each done a market analysis of the Victor Shaw House. The owner has requested a reduction of the delay of the effective date of the COA. The HLC will receive a recommendation from the Design Review Committee at its February meeting. 

h.  Charles E. Barnhardt House, 3217 Maymont Place, Charlotte, N.C.

Staff continues to move forward with the necessary repairs to the house. Stewart Gray is working to have electricity restored at the house, and Peter Wasmer will be moving ahead with additional repairs.  The Permit has been issued for the installation of electric power, and the contractor plans to do the job on February 12th.

i.  Mount Carmel Baptist Church, 412 Campus Street, Charlotte, N.C.

The City Housing Board has granted an extension of the hearing on the code violations that the Johnson C. Smith University has been ordered to make or to move forward with the demolition of the building.
