6. Projects Committee
Report: Paula Lester
A. Thomas and Latitia Gluyas
House, 7314 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Rd., Charlotte

The Historic Landmarks Commission has a right of first
refusal to purchase the house, because the HLC purchased and sold the house
with deed covenants several years ago. Staff has contacted the
prospective buyer and is convinced that the prospective buyer understands
the restrictions on the property. Consequently, Staff recommends that
the Commission waive its right of first refusal to purchase the Gluyas
House.
B. Younts General Store,
316 Main St., Pineville

1) The tenant's lease on the property expires on
September 30, 2012.
Staff recommends that the lease be renewed for one year
under current arrangements.
2) Bryan Turner has received bids to perform repairs
on the building. Staff has asked Bryan Turner to determine those items
which are mandatory and those that are necessary
Mandatory: $103,025
Discretionary: $2,450
Staff recommends that the mandatory items be funded if
the repair of the parapet wall, which is essential for public safety,
requires a full roof replacement.
C. Blankenship Feed and Oil
Store, 330 Main St., Pineville

The tenant's lease on the property expires on September
30, 2012.
Staff recommends that the lease be renewed for one year
under current arrangements.
D. Grier-Rea House, 6701
Providence Rd., Charlotte

The Commission's rezoning application remains active.
However, the Commission must decide whether it wishes to withdraw the
application or attempt to keep it active.
E. Park Ave. Millhouse,
409 Park Ave., Pineville

The Commission might have an offer in hand when it meets.
If so, the Commission must decide whether to accept the offer.
F. Funderburk-Plaxco House,
316 East Matthews St. Matthews, N.C.

The Historic Landmarks Commission is performing due
diligence on the prospective purchase of the property by the HLC.
Subject to Pat Nystrom's report on her progress on this matter, the
Commission should consider whether it wishes to move forward with closing on
the property. This matter must be considered in Executive Session.

7. Survey Committee Report:
Jill Walker
A. Change of Funding for
Survey and Research Report.
The Commission has approved funding for a Survey and
Research Report on Fire Station No. 2 (1958) at 1215 South Boulevard,
Charlotte, N.C. The Charlotte Fire Department does not favor the
designation of the building at this time but would support the designation
of Fire Station No. 8 at 2009 Commonwealth Avenue. Staff believes that
there is reason to believe that Fire Station No. 8 does possess special
significance.

Staff recommends that approval for funding a Survey and
Research Report on Fire Station No. 2 (1958) be rescinded and that funding
for a Survey and Research Report on Fire Station No. 8 (2009 Commonwealth
Ave.) be approved.
