SUMMARY:Sugaw Creek Presbyterian Cemetery Headstone Cleaning
DESCRIPTION:Join the Charlotte Museum of History and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Department as we work to clean headstones in Cemetery Number Two of the historic Sugaw Creek Presbyterian Church. Cleaning supplies will be provided\, but we recommend closed-toed shoes and attire you don’t mind getting a little dirty.  \nAll volunteers will receive training at the start of the event. \nAbout the Cemetery: Sugaw Creek Presbyterian Church is the oldest church in Mecklenburg County\, founded in 1755. It’s cemeteries are home to numerous Charlotteans\, including the Rock House’s original owners: Hezekiah and Mary Alexander. There are three cemeteries representing the oldest burials at cemetery number 1\, the primarily 19th century burials at cemetery number 2\, and the more modern burials at cemetery number 3. \nRegister Online Here
