Mr. Sullivan chaired the meeting
There was a general discussion of the event scheduled for
May 1st for public officials. Dr. Morrill expressed some concern
about turnout. Mr. Sullivan agreed that success would depend upon sufficient
organization and stated that the necessary organization would occur. Ms.
Lewis will coordinate follow-up. Ms. Johnson-Gess will assist with the map
to be prepared by Ms. Hockett. Ms. Bos will be developing the program. Ms. Blake Holtz will assist with the mailing
list.
Dr. Morrill stated the importance of finding a home for
the mural depicting the history of Charlotte-Mecklenburg.
Dr. Morrill announced that the first edition of the
Internet Journal will be published next week.
Old Business
Mr. Misenheimer stated that a special event will be held
at the pavilion building at Rural Hill Plantation when the structure is
completed. Dr. Morrill agreed that this will be an extremely important
cultural facility for the community.
Mr. Misenheimer also suggested that the name for the
pavilion building should refer to Major John Davidson. It was agreed that
this would be an item of old business at the next meeting.
