A. The Mecklenburg Investment Company Building, at 233-237 South Brevard St., Charlotte.

 

 

The applicant proposes to remodel the interior of the first story of the building. Staff and the Design Review Committee reviewed the project and agree that the proposed changes to the building are appropriate.   Click here to view plans and images of the proposed project.

DR. WEIS PRESENTED A MOTION SECONDED BY DR. MATTSON TO RECOMMEND TO THE HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION THAT THE SOUTHERN ASBESTOS COMPANY, 1000 SEABOARD STREET, CHARLOTTE, N. C., BE PLACED ON THE HLC’S STUDY LIST. THE COMMITTEE UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED THE MOTION.

2) Bradford House, 12530 Mayes Road, Huntersville

DR. MATTSON PRESENTED A MOTION SECONDED BY MR. ROGERS TO RECOMMEND TO THE HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION THAT THE BRADFORD HOUSE, 125S0 MAYES ROAD, HUNTERSVILLE, N. C., BE PLACED ON THE HLC’S STUDY LIST. THE COMMITTEE APPROVED THE MOTION WITH THE FOLLOWING VOTE: FAVOR: GRAY, MATTSON, ROGERS OPPOSE: NONE ABSTAIN: J. WALKER, WEIS.

3) Outen Pottery, 425 Jefferson St., Matthews

MS. WALKER PRESENTED A MOTION SECONDED BY DR. WEIS TO RECOMMEND TO THE HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION THAT THE OUTEN POTTERY, 425 JEFFERSON ST., MATTHEWS, N. C., BE PLACED ON THE HLC’S STUDY LIST AND THAT THE HLC FUND THE PREPARATION OF A SURVEY AND RESEARCH REPORT. THE COMMITTEE UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED THE MOTION.

4) Monroe Road Cemetery, Matthews (located beside the Legacy Apts., across from Family Dollar Headquarters, 10401 Monroe Rd.)

DR. MATTSON PRESENTED A MOTION SECONDED BY MR. GRAY TO RECOMMEND TO THE  HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION THAT THE MONROE ROAD CEMETERY, MONROE ROAD, MATTHEWS, N. C., BE PLACED ON THE HLC’S STUDY LIST. THE COMMITTEE APPROVED THE MOTION WITH THE FOLLOWING VOTE: FAVOR: NEWMAN, MATTSON, ROGERS, WEIS OPPOSE: NONE ABSTAIN: J. WALKER.

5) The W. C. Newell Company Warehouse, 520 Elliot St., Charlotte (located in 3rd Ward)

DR. WEIS PRESENTED A MOTION SECONDED BY MR. ROGERS TO RECOMMEND TO THE HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION THAT THE W. C. NEWELL COMPANY WAREHOUSE, 520 ELLIOT STREET, CHARLOTTE, N. C., BE PLACED ON THE HLC’S STUDY LIST. THE COMMITTEE UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED THE MOTION.

6) Pineville Mill Managers’ Houses, 304 and 402 Dover St., Pineville

MR. ROGERS PRESENTED A MOTION SECONDED BY MS. J. WALKER TO RECOMMEND TO THE HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION THAT THE PINEVILLE MILL MANAGERS’ HOUSES, 304 AND 402 DOVER ST., PINEVILLE, N. C., BE PLACED ON THE HLC’S STUDY LIST. THE COMMITTEE UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED THE MOTION.

7) Charlotte Fire Station #8, 1201 The Plaza, Charlotte

DR. WEIS PRESENTED A MOTION SECONDED BY DR. MATTSON TO RECOMMEND TO THE HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION THAT CHARLOTTE FIRE STATION #8, 1201 THE PLAZA, CHARLOTTE, N.C ., BE PLACED ON THE HLC’S STUDY LIST. THE COMMITTEE UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED THE MOTION.

 

       B.  Consideration of Funding for Survey and Research Reports:

 

1) Whitley Mill Ruin, Beatties Ford & Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road, Charlotte

DR. MATTSON PRESENTED A MOTION SECONDED BY MR. ROGERS TO RECOMMEND TO THE HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION THAT THE WHITLEY MILL RUIN, BEATTIES FORD & MT.HOLLY-HUNTERSVILLE ROAD, BE FUNDED BY THE HLC FOR A SURVEY AND RESEARCH REPORT. THE COMMITTEE UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED THE MOTION.

2) 1958 Charlotte Fire Station #2, 1215 South Boulevard, Charlotte

DR. WEIS PRESENTED A MOTION SECONDED BY MS. J. WALKER, TO RECOMMEND TO THE HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION THAT THE 1958 FIRE STATION #2, 1215 SOUTH BOULEVARD, CHARLOTTE, N. C., BE FUNDED BY THE HLC FOR A SURVEY AND RESEARCH REPORT. THE COMMITTEE UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED THE MOTION.
